Welcome to AJC Conversions Ltd: a family-run specialist Volkswagen camper conversion company in the North West/East Midlands area. We live and breathe VW Campervans! The company started as a direct result of converting our own campervan and having been disappointed with the quality of products for camper conversions on the market, we decided to set up our own business.
We offer a wide range of camper conversion services, from window fitting, carpet lining, ply lining and elevating roof fitting to full camper conversions. We also offer the ideal solution for DIY enthusiasts.
We know that converting a panel van into a campervan poses lots of questions. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions before embarking on a campervan conversion.
We convert VW Transporters from 2003 onwards, VW Crafters from 2017 onwards and MAN TGE’s.
Timescales for Transporter conversions are 10-15 working days depending on the specification. Timescales for Crafter/MAN conversions are 25 – 35 working days depending on specification.

SWB vs LWB VansThis is the age old question and neither is the correct answer, it’s all down to your personal preference and circumstances. The SWB is more manageable in your typical Tesco carpark being 4.9M long (A VW Golf is 4.3m for reference) as opposed to the LWB being 5.3m long. VW Crafter sizes – MWB – 6M, LWB – 6.8M, XLWB – 7.4M
Can i insure my van for the base van cost and conversion?Yes, AJC Conversions are an insurer recognised converter. Let your insurer know you have an AJC camper and they should be able to offer you an agreed value for your vehicle.
What warranty do you provide?All AJC Conversions come with a comprehensive 12 month RTB warranty. However even after this we always want to do our best to look after our conversions.
How do I acquire a quotation for work on my van?AJC invite and welcome everybody to our workshop where you’re welcome to see finished vehicles and vehicles in progress to really see behind the scenes of how they’re built. We can then discuss your needs and will provide you with a full breakdown of costs for what you require. We kindly ask you email us prior to arrange an appointment.

What is your lead time for a conversion?Lead times always vary, however it is generally 5 months from initial contact to your vehicle entering our workshop.
What deposits do you require?AJC require a £2,000 deposit for any RIB bed booking and £2,000 for any Reimo elevating roof booking (£4,000 for any full conversion) We then request no more extra funds until your vehicle is converted. We provide an extensive handover to ensure you understand your new vehicle and take final payment before the vehicle leaves the premises.
What power supply/battery do I need?If you only require 12 volt electrics you would need one of the following:
- 12v Leisure battery [105 amp Lithium] with Victron Orion DC to DC Charger
- 12v Leisure Battery [AGM 110amp] with Victron Orion DC to DC charger
If you require 240v electrics (so you can hook up on a campsite etc) you would need:
240v System: Includes Consumer Unit; 240v Battery Charger [battery not included]; 2 x 240v Sockets; Hook up Point
Plus one of the following- 12v Leisure battery [105 amp Lithium] with Victron Orion DC to DC Charger
- 12v Leisure Battery [AGM 110amp] with Victron Orion DC to DC charger
If you require an additional leisure battery
Your additional battery needs to be of the same type as the battery supplied with your charger e.g. Lithium & Lithium or AGM & AGM. Battery types cannot be mixed. Please note that if you have an existing battery, any additional battery installed will reduce to the capacity/performance of your existing battery.
What does the DC to DC Charger do?
The DC to DC charging system is the more modern version of a split charge relay and enables your leisure battery to be charged whilst the engine is running. The DC to DC charger is essential for vehicles with Stop/Start technology.
All our Full Conversion packages come complete with:
- 12v leisure battery [105 amp lithium] with Victron Orion dc to dc charger
- 240v system: includes consumer unit; 240v battery charger; 2 x 240v sockets; hook up point

Please note we offer an advertising service only and cannot offer managed sales due to storage and time limitations. All listings are subject to approval. Once approved you will receive an invoice. Only when the advertising fee has been paid will your vehicle be listed. -
